Snowshoeing with tHe Boy's

With the forecast looking good, and Eric back from the middle East and back in 'Swissy' land it was a perfect idea to go up the mountains.
We had 2/3 of us not so great at the off piste skiing, and skinning up would be a first, so plan B it was, snow shoes! Not much slower than skis in walking up, but then not as much fun or as easy on the knees on the way down.
But we got straight into it, Rob driving us to Realp and then the normal tour up towards the Albert-Heim Hut or plan B to the hotel Teifenbach were we would be staying the night under the stars of the Alps. Both only reachable by man power, haha.
After a steep start and the sun shinning very bright reflecting of the snow, we were making good head way. But slowly the difference in the pace the three of us were setting was very visible and Lunch was called for.

As we got underway Eric, just recently back from the Middle East and see level, was starting to feel the steepness and the altitude (approx. 2000m) and so plan B it was, but first a stop at a very unexpected sight in the middle of the mountains... a Bar!!

AS mates do, we shared the view over a 'Möst' or four before dinner, great food, great service, great wine, what a wonderful evening... if it hadn't been for one of us three snoring like a world Champion.
Day two, a long day ahead of us which would include a visit to the tongue of a glacier, past the Albert-Heim hut (that was on the plan yesterday),  over the summit of the 'Schafberg' and a little more than 1000m down to the car at Realp.
What a great weekend was had by all three of us, thanks again to Rob for driving and for Eric and all his effort, well done.
