1/17/2017 0 Comments Powder Ski weekend, AndermattI had signed up for a beginners course to better my off piste skiing which took place last weekend up in Andermatt.
It had been snowing for a couple of days and didn't stop until Sunday afternoon, perfect. Albeit it was extremely windy on Saturday and -15c on both days! Nonetheless we had a great group of avid skiers (8) and David, our mountain guide for weekend, were all great and up for it. It's amazing what a few good tips and a bit of one on one instant feedback can do.... so after an unintentional somersault and a head plant or two in the powder and one or two other crashes in the powder, by Sunday afternoon we were all skiing knee deep in powder!! It was fantastic! Many thanks to Höhenfiber, David and all the group for a great weekend.

7/27/2016 0 Comments WintheIslandEstates.com... I triedI had found the answer to all my problems, I thought.
A very generous Australian couple had after years of work and dedication decided to raffle off their Island Resort with tickets costing $49, what a great idea! I jumped on board and bought my tickets (obviously checking with the boss that she would come with me if i did win!) with my fingers crossed and daydreaming of what could be I waited patiently for the draw to happen... drum rolls.... Back to daydreaming :-( Well this is where the couple started, daydreaming, taking a big step out of the dreary office world to follow that dream of adventure and to venture to new horizons. Would you take that step?? http://www.wintheislandestates.com/enter/ (my winnings, 3 lovely photos) 5/20/2016 0 Comments A good morning run... Finallyi finally went for that illusive morning run I said I would do (for the last 15 years!) from home down to the train station, was better than I thought but just some small organisational bits to sort out when (not if) I do it again ... I forgot my glasses so I'm writing and working half blind today 😜
Firstly a big thank you to Schlumpf, Steff and Fabü for a very exciting Sunday up the mountains, all be it a bit out of my depth on this Ski tour, they were patient with me on skiing down and it was much appreciated!
We completed a lovely ski tour in the Bahnalp region with reaching the peak of Chaiserstuel at 2400m (that was a ascent of 690m) before free skiing down (trying to) to St.Jkob (1000m). Here we had time for a quick sandwich before catching a little lift up to Egg 1600m (yes you read it correctly). A quick coffee in a lovely Alphütte there (the most tiniest of ski resorts!) then it was skins on and off up to Saddle of Sinsgäu 1915m an ascent of 315m before the great ski down (we're a fir tree jumped out and tackled me) to the car (900m). The tour of 7hrs was a bit to long for a beginner like me but it highlighted areas that need to be addressed and improved before embarking on my next adventure ;-) p.s. Another thank you to the three at the top again. |
